14 Signs From Your Animal Guides

14 Signs from  your Animal Guides

By Sarah Petruno Shamana

We all have animal guides. These individuals are a type of Spirit Guide and they can be with us for life, or to assist us with specific parts of our path.

How do you tell who your Animal Guide is at this time, or which one is assisting you now?

There are signs, and likely, you’ve already experienced them!

Below are my list of the top 14 signs your animals guides will send you to let you know they are assisting, guiding and supporting you.

14 Signs from  your Animal Guides

14 Signs From Your Animal Guides

1. Always seeing a certain animal on your way to or from work

When you drive to and from work, do you always cross paths with an osprey? See a hawk flying over your car at a certain point, or frequently spy a fox in a field?

These occurrences are no coincidence, and are likely a sign that the animal you see is a guide of yours.

2. You have an affinity for a certain type of creature - exotic or domestic

Do you LOVE dolphins? Have a lifelong otter obsession? What about arctic foxes, can’t get enough? We are often drawn to the same animal who guides us.

3. Wildlife in your yard

Are you the deer whisperer of your neighborhood? Your yard looks seemingly no different from your neighbors’, but for some reason, all the deer flock to you.

There’s a reason.

4. You’re the bird feeder whisperer

Everyone else complains that their carefully crafted bird feeders attract only sparrows and finches, but not you. You see goldfinches, chickadees, bluebirds, and nuthatches. Which one do you seem to spot the most?

Some of these birds are likely guides of yours.

5. Beekeeping and Chicken Coops

When you got started with beekeeping or urban chicken coops, it was a fun hobby and you’d just see if anything came of it. Now, your bees and chickens are producing mass quantities of honey and eggs - it almost seems unreasonable or impossible. When you connect at the level of Spirit with these animals, they give back to you, too. Have lots of honey or more eggs than you can eat?

Consider it a gift from your honey bee or chicken guide.

6. Vegetarianism or Veganism, spurred initially by your compassion for a one specific food animal

Always have a soft spot in your heart for cows, pigs, or chickens? Could not stand the way these souls are treated on commercial feed farms? It literally hurt your soul to see or know about their treatment, and that’s why you became a vegetarian or vegan?

Surprise! It’s likely in part because you have a BFF in Spirit you wanted to protect.

7. You stand up for insects and other creepy-crawlies

My husband always captures spiders and ants, carefully and lovingly, and gently places them outside. If this sounds like you, guess what?

Spider guides are on your side. Intelligent and observant, they can be a real help to you in the physical world.

8. A specific animal keeps appearing in your path in unconventional ways

Always seeing bluebirds in the greeting card aisle? Then, you got a car wash and were given a complimentary air freshener with a blue jay? What about a throw blanket, walking through Target, did you see a snowy owl throw right in your path?

If you’re seeing the same animal over and over again in unconventional ways, it’s a sign.

9. A magical one on one experience with an individual animal

Do you remember a time when you shared a moment of stillness with a fox in a field and you seemed to connect before he ran off? You did. On your manatee encounter during your honeymoon, did the guides marvel that all the manatees seemed to love you the best? They did. Has a butterfly or a bird landed on your finger, even more than once? Have you had a chipmunk eat from your hand?

These are all signs that the animal you connected with was already supporting you in Spirit.

10. Your work or hobbies involve gentleness with animals, and you have a soft spot in your heart for one kind of animal (or family of animals) in particular

Volunteer at the humane society? Vet tech? Research technician? If your work or hobbies involve you connecting with animals, and you’ve always had a preference for cats, or horses, or rodents - consider that you’re drawn to them because their kind are drawn to you.

11. You notice animal behavior that is slightly out of character

A bird lingering a little too long before flying off, a squirrel peering in your window, or a fox making eye contact with you before running away. These momentary instances of peculiarities in animals are often signs from your animal guide - look up the meaning.

12. You have experienced several sightings of a rare, uncommon, or normally secretive animal, and your friends and family report never having seen one in their life.

Have you seen a pileated woodpecker more than once, when most people go their entire lives without ever seeing one? What about a secretive weasel, have you spotted one?

There are no coincidences.

13.  Series of minor events with animals

This one is no ones favorite, but it’s also equally as important of a sign.

Sometimes, our guides need to take more noticeable measures to get our attention - like repeated minor bee stings, jellyfish encounters, or skunk sprays. If you’ve had more than one bite - consider this is a Spirit sign designed to get your attention.

14. You’ve been told you have a totem animal

Have you been told you have a totem or a power animal?

Take this seriously - it’s true.

These 14 signs are just some examples of signs from your animal guides. If any of these sound familiar to you and you’re able to identify a few animals to which you feel connected, look them up to see what their presence in your life may mean, or wonder aloud about what they may wish to help you with - and trust it!

This book, Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small, is a great place to start.
